The Catholic Diocese of Kurunegala, embedded within the socio-economic realities of Sri Lanka, shoulders the responsibility of caring for orphaned and vulnerable children. These children, often victims of circumstance stemming from poverty, familial instability, or health crises, require a nurturing environment to rebuild their lives. The Diocese's two homes, serving as sanctuaries, aim to provide more than just shelter; they strive to cultivate a foundation for these children to blossom into self-sufficient, contributing members of society. This mission is driven by a deep commitment to holistic development, recognizing that true empowerment extends beyond basic necessities.
The Catholic Diocese of Kurunegala is home to over 15 pre-schools, where many little children from rural and underprivileged areas take their first steps into education, learning the ABCs and developing the foundations for their future. These children arrive each day full of hope and curiosity, yet many of them come from families who struggle daily just to make ends meet. We need to ensure that every child attending our pre-schools starts the day with the energy and nourishment they need, we propose a Morning Nutrition Program. Each child will receive: One nutritious Samaposha ball & One cup of fresh milk. This simple yet powerful gesture can make a world of difference in their health, happiness, and readiness to learn.
